NE Disabled Sports’ mission is to offers sports and recreation within a safe, supportive, fun boundary-free environment for individuals with disabilities who require adaptive instruction.

Checks for VI child’s pass and registration forms must be received by 1/11/12 in order to get MAPVI’s discounted rate.

MAPVI has also obtained a group rate at The Beacon Resort for Saturday 1/14/12 & Sunday 1/15/12. The discounted rate is $99/night, which will be held until 1/3/12. Feeling for Form Introductory Tour of MFA for blind & low vision visitors

The Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in Boston offers a series of introductory one-on-one guided tours to the Museum and its collections for blind and low vision individuals who want to build a deeper relationship with the Museum. Each monthly session focuses on a different collection and includes wayfinding and verbal description of spaces. These tours are given on the 1st Sunday of the month at 10:30 am and the 3rd Wednesday at 6:30pm. Individuals can attend one or more sessions, whichever interests them. Guided tours can also bescheduled at other times. Pre-registration is not required unless a visitor needs a sighted guide or other access accommodation.

Free introductory tour of MFA in sign language & with assistive listening devices

A new monthly offering at the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in Boston for people who are Deaf or hard of hearing. These tours will be given at 6:30 pm on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. No pre-registration is required; meet at the Sharf Visitor Center in the MFA.

MAPVI’s Annual Holiday Party will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011. We’re going to see Ben Rudnick & Friends play their 10th Annual Holiday Extravaganza Concert at the Regent Theatre in Arlington.

The show starts at 10:30am and the theatre is located at 7 Medford Street in Arlington.

After the show we’ll have a pizza party at Not Your Average Joe’s, located at 645 Mass Ave in Arlington (about 5 minutes walk from the theater).

The Pizza Party after the concert is included in your ticket price. We will be offering pizza, drinks, and dessert at Not Your Average Joe’s, but you can place your own orders as well. Parking is available directly across the street from the Regent Theatre.

MAPVI’s Annual Potluck Meeting will be held on November 14th at the Grousbeck Center for Students and Technology at Perkins School for the Blind.

From the Massachusetts Turnpike, also known as I-90 (traveling east or west), take Exit 17 and follow the signs marked “Watertown,” which lead to Galen Street. Follow Galen Street, crossing the bridge, to Watertown Square. Bear right (not the hardest right that leads along the river) onto North Beacon Street (Route 20). Follow North Beacon Street for about one-half mile to the Perkins campus (located on the right). Pass the campus and turn right onto Beechwood Avenue. The main parking lot is on the right. Come to our Eighth Annual Apple Picking Event at Berlin Orchards on Saturday October 8, 2011, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Rain date of October 9th. Berlin Orchards is located at 200 Central Street, Route 62, Berlin, MA.

This event was such a huge success the past seven years that we are doing it again this year! Macs, Galas, Cortlands, Jonagold, and Macoun will be fresh for the picking! Hayride to and from the orchards! You’ll get a half peck bag for self-pick apples, apple cider and Berlin Orchard’s signature fresh-made cookies!

Berlin Orchards features a Pick-Your-Own apple and pumpkin orchards, farm animals, and more!

This event is FREE for all MAPVI members. The fee is $15 per family for non-members (with special group rates available) to help defray costs. MAPVI invites you to our Access Sailing event at the Duxbury Bay Maritime School (457 Washington St, Duxbury) on Sunday, August 28 at 9:00AM.

This event will be fun for all abilities! Wheelchairs welcome!

We will start with a breakfast social and depart in shifts for a 1 hour sail.

This event is free for one adult & one child for MAPVI members with additional family members $10 each.

Non MAPVI-members are welcome at $25 each.
